Instagram users criticize Kadyrov for threats to burn down quarantine violators' cars

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has threatened to burn down cars of quarantine violators dissatisfied with policemen's actions. The Instagram users and residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted the emotionality and rudeness of Kadyrov's statement.

The threatening Ramzan Kadyrov's video was posted on April 13 in the Instagram public Eldit_net.

"What do they (drivers) say? [...] I'll give an order; and if they stop a car at a (police) post and ask, and who won't speak normally, they will burn the car down directly [...] You … (swears in the feminine, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") don't understand any other language," the head of Chechnya has stated as translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The residents of Chechnya interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent have noted that Kadyrov's rhetoric regarding quarantine violators has recently toughened.

"He once threatened to send quarantine violators to work in the fields; now, he is threatening to burn down the cars of those who will express dissatisfaction with law enforcers' actions. Perhaps [...] he is speaking on emotions, but this emphasized rudeness is out of place now," Israil, a local resident, believes.

"Yesterday, there was a story in news report, in which Kadyrov scolded some young man from Urus-Martan who had violated the quarantine regime. He called him a fat pig, addressed him in a feminine way, treated him as not a man, and the like. Now, again in feminine, he addresses everyone who dares to express dissatisfaction with the law enforcers on duty at the posts and threatens to burn down their cars. Maybe these are emotions; maybe the person is really boiling up. But such statements are simply unacceptable for the head of the republic, a public figure and leader," Razet, a local, has stated.
