Makhachkala woman complains of absence of help to those who lost jobs due to quarantine

An employee of a private medical centre closed for quarantine has found herself without a salary or state assistance, while living in a rented apartment with her two children.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since March 28, Dagestan closed retail outlets, except for groceries and pharmacies, beauty salons, shopping centres, swimming pools, baths, marketplaces, cafes and restaurants.

Dinara, a 40-year-old resident of Makhachkala, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she worked in the X-ray room of a private medical centre. In was closed by the quarantine, after which the woman remained without her salary. She said that she is raising two minor children without a husband.

"I don't know what to do. If quarantine lasts for a month, I'll receive my next salary only in two months," Dinara said.

"For some reason, no one speaks about the poor who had barely made both ends meet; and now they are sitting at home without work, and many have more than one child. Does the government have any program to help the poor?" Dinara asks in her message sent to the SMS service of the "Caucasian Knot" on April 2.

Due to non-working days, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has failed to receive any comment on state programmes for supporting the poor at the agency in charge.
