Opposition urges Georgian authorities to restrict worships

The restrictions introduced due to coronavirus should also cover the Georgian Orthodox Church, the "Free Democrats" Party has stated.

"Since the most efficient measure in the world against the coronavirus spread is the maximum restriction of people's physical contacts; and the state of emergency declared in Georgia envisages such restrictions, the authorities are obliged to equally and fully spread these restrictions over all the entities under their jurisdiction, including the Georgian Orthodox Church and its worship procedures in order to save believers lives and health," the Georgian version of the "InerPressNews" has cited this statement today.

Earlier, on April 1, Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, excluded, in his appeal, any chance of closing the churches.
