Vardan Arzumanyan stops hunger strike
In the evening on April 1, Vardan Arzumanyan, a Karabakh War veteran, stopped his hunger strike in Stepanakert and joined the oppositional movement. The protest movement will continue until the second round of presidential election in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), Arthur Osipyan, the Chairman of the Revolutionary Party, has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Karabakh War veterans, Vardan Arzumanyan and Mais Bakhdadyan went on a hunger strike on March 25 demanding the resignation of the NKR President and the heads of law enforcement bodies.
Vardan Arzumanyan has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in the evening on April 1, he stopped his hunger strike because he learned about the second round of the presidential election in the NKR.
"I stopped my hunger strike, but this does not mean that I will stop protesting against the corrupt authorities. After I gain strength, I'll join the protest movement of the Revolutionary Party and its supporters," the veteran said.
Since the second round is ahead, and the pro-government candidate, Araik Arutyunyan, and the independent candidate, Masis Mailyan, will participate in it, the Revolutionary Party will continue its actions to prevent the current power from reproducing itself, Arthur Osipyan, the leader of the party and protest movement, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
