Nalchik resident sentenced to six years of imprisonment in case on aiding terrorists

In Rostov-on-Don, a court recognized Aslan Sablirov, a resident of Nalchik, as an accomplice to terrorists and sentenced him to six years of imprisonment. The defendant pleaded guilty in part, the court reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Aslan Sablirov, a resident of Nalchik, stated that he had incriminated himself under pressure from law enforcers and that he was forced to conclude a plea agreement under the threat of torture.

In December 2011, Aslan Sablirov, a resident of Nalchik, complained about his kidnapping by law enforcers and torture. The man claimed that the law enforcers tortured and beat him to force him to confess to the storage of ammunition and aiding and abetting militants.

At trial, Aslan Sablirov did not plead guilty. "At a court hearing, defendant Aslan Sablirov pleaded partially guilty to committing the alleged criminal acts. He was sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by an official of the Rostov court's press service today.
