Defence of resident of Adygea criticize verdict in the case of recruitment to IS*

The court has found Sayedshokh Ubaidov, a resident of Adygea, to have been a recruiter of militants, despite the refusal of the prosecution witnesses from their testimonies, his defence has stated. An Ubaidov's advocate has announced the intention to appeal against the verdict.

On March 16, Sayedshokh Ubaidov, a resident of Adygea, was found guilty within the case of inducing his acquaintance to join the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, and sentenced him to six in a general security colony.

Natalia Faradzheva, an advocate for  Sayedshokh Ubaidov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she would appeal against the verdict. "The witness, Djamshed Usman Alizod, has stated at the court session that Ubaidov had not persuaded him to join the IS*; and it was all a lie. Another significant witness has also refused to confirm his testimony. The case files have no proofs that Ubaidov had demonstrated video clips that promoted the IS*. Finally, despite numerous violations of the criminal law and the law of criminal procedure, the court, will most likely justify the verdict by the unauthorized copy of the verdict against Djamshed Usman Alizod, who had been convicted and already amnestied in Tajikistan for the Salafi movement, which is not prohibited in the Russian Federation," the advocate has concluded.

* Islamic State (IS, former ISIL) is a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court
