Medal to Kadyrov's daughter shows biased awarding in Chechnya

A fashion show in Paris is not a reason to granting the medal "For Merit to Chechnya" to Aishat Kadyrova, Ramzan's daughter, however, any awards in Chechnya are granted by a sole decision of the republic's head, analysts believe. The award mismatches the status of the daughter and the ethical norms of Islam, readers of the "Caucasian Knot" have pointed out.

The awarding decision was made by Kadyrov's subjective evaluation, Alexei Malashenko, a political analyst believes. He is sure that awarding should be decided by some collective body.

Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the "Assembly of Caucasian Nations", is not surprised that Kadyrov had decorated his own daughter with a medal. "His mission is to bring his relatives to the forefront and in any way to bring them to power," Mr Kutaev has explained.

A Chechen historian doubts that people in Europe became interested in Chechnya after the fashion show in Paris.

Amid human rights violations in Chechnya, the participation of Ramzan Kadyrov's daughter in the fashion show in Paris looked strange, Chechen refugees in Europe have pointed out.
