Georgia is behind Armenia in WHO's ranking for epidemic preparedness

The rating of the World Health Organization (WHO) has placed Georgia among the countries with weak epidemic prevention capabilities. Insufficient measures have been taken to protect the population, the WHO has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed in Armenia. As of March 6, nine infected patients were registered in Georgia; six cases were recorded in Azerbaijan.

According to the results of the "Joint External Assessment" rating, the WHO placed Armenia into the so-called "green zone", which corresponds to the country's high readiness to prevent an epidemic.

Georgia has received a rating of 57 points with a rating of "Need to work". "Georgia has joined the 'Joint External Assessment' rating and is drafting a national action plan to eliminate shortcomings in the fight against the epidemic," the description to the points says.

There are no data on Azerbaijan and Russia in the rating; their status is defined as "Pending".
