Dagestani authorities ignore Gasanguseinov's pickets

For the second day in a row, Dagestan authorities make no reaction to the pickets held by Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father of the murdered Gasanguseinov shepherd brothers. He explains his pickets by an attempt to prevent new killings of innocent people by law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 4, Murtazali Gasanguseinov resumed his protests in Makhachkala demanding to investigate into his sons' murder.

On August 23, 2016, Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov, 17-year-old and 19-year-old brothers, were killed during an operation conducted by law enforcers in the Shamil District of Dagestan.

On March 5, the father came to a Makhachkala square again and held his solo picket in front of the Government House. He stood for an hour with a banner: "President's word means nothing! [The agency] deliberately protracts inquiry into shepherds' murder".

"Three and a half years have passed since my sons' death, but nothing has been resolved yet; even when the case was transferred to Moscow. Investigators have stopped working as before," Murtazali Gasanguseinov has stated.

He has noted that people often ask him why he comes to the square. "I'm standing here not for my sons only. If I don't come, they'll kill other sons tomorrow. What shall we do then, what will happen to us? We'll become slaves. But I don't want to be a slave," the picketer told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

After the solo picket held on March 4, no authorities' reaction followed, Djambulat Gasanov, a lawyer and Gasanguseinov's official representative, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On March 5, none of the republic's officials also came out to Gasanguseinov.
