Gasanguseinov urges Putin to speed up inquiry into his sons' killing

Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father of the murdered shepherd brothers, has resumed his actions in Makhachkala demanding to investigate his sons' assassination.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murtazali Gasanguseinov has been holding daily pickets demanding to dismiss and bring to criminal liability the law enforcer, who, at the time of the murder of the shepherds-brothers, Murtazali's sons, held the position of the head of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division), and then reported on the killing of two militants.

On August 23, 2016, Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov, 17-year-old and 19-year-old brothers, were killed during an operation conducted by law enforcers in the Shamil District of Dagestan.

On March 4, Murtazali Gasanguseinov held a solo picket in the Central Square of Makhachkala. He stood for about an hour between the city Mayoralty and the Government House with a poster in his hands reading: "(The power agency) is deliberately protracting the inquiry into the shepherds' murder" and "President's word means nothing!" the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the venue.

According to Gasanguseinov, a year and four months ago, Russian President instructed the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) to investigate the murder of his sons, but during this time even no suspects appeared. "I come to Makhachkala to take part in investigative actions, but nothing happens for a month already. We assume that the inquiry is deliberately protracted so that everyone in Dagestan forgets about this case," the father told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the aim of his action.

During the picket, he recorded a video appeal to Vladimir Putin, in which he demanded to find and punish his sons' killers. "If you are President of the Russian Federation, then do it. The law should be the same for everyone," Mr Gasanguseinov said in his appeal.

He intends to hold his pickets daily, and told about plans to hold a rally.
