Chechen residents report detentions of blogger Abdurakhmanov's supporters

In two villages of Chechnya, young people were detained, who put "Likes" to the videos posted by Tumso Abdurakhmanov, local residents report. The police have not confirmed this information.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 26, a man who penetrated into Tumso's apartment attacked the blogger with a hammer. Before the attack, Tumso received threats, he is now under guard in hospital, his brother said.

On February 26, on the day of the attack on Abdurakhmanov, in the Chechen villages of Shelkovskaya and Naurskaya, law enforcers detained at least nine young people who had put "Likes" under Abdurakhmanov's videos, the "Kavkaz.Realii" has reported, citing its sources.

The detention information was confirmed by a resident of the Shelkovskaya District, who introduced himself as Sultan.

"It can be very difficult to figure out situations with young people's detention. Relatives have their own version; law enforcers have their own one. Besides, relatives very rarely turn to official bodies or human rights defenders, and try to solve the problem with the involvement of the relatives or acquaintances working in such structures," said a female activist of one of the Chechen NGOs.

Let us remind you that on January 25, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reported the detention in Chechnya of 25 people involved in the dissemination of a photo collage, in which Kadyrov is depicted in the attire of an Orthodox priest. According to the edition, the detainees, including schoolchildren, spent the night at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where they were pressured. Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, declared this information to be false, but acknowledged the authorities' readiness to punish caricature authors and distributors.
