Attempted assassination committed on Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov (+video)

The well-known Chechen blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, has been hospitalized after an attack by a man who penetrated into his apartment.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov lives in Poland, where he tried to obtain asylum. His popularity rose sharply after his public debates with Chechen officials. After one of such disputes, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, announced blood feud to him.

The man entered the blogger's apartment, when he was asleep, and tried to kill him with a hammer, the website of the Chechen association "Vayfond" has reported.

During the fight with the attacker, Abdurakhmanov managed to disarm him and call the police.

According to the attacker, he did not want to kill Tumso, but only to scare him.

Abdurakhmanov received threats after the Daudov's blood feud declaration. One of those who threatened the blogger was a native of Chechnya who moved to Germany and received refugee status there. Tumso's close relatives living in Chechnya had condemned the blogger on air of the "Grozny" TV Channel and announced that they would not avenge his murder.
