Russian diplomats criticize US for accusations of cyber attack on Georgia

US authorities have unreasonably accused Russia of a cyber attack on Georgia, the Russian Embassy in Washington has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) blamed Russia for committing a cyber attack on October 28, 2019; the United States and Great Britain condemned Russia's actions.

On October 28, 2019, a large-scale cyber attack was launched in parallel on the websites of the Georgian Presidential Administration, judicial bodies, councils of various municipalities, and commercial and media organizations. Many of them featured a photo of a former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili against the background of the country's flag with an inscription in English: "I'll be back".

The solidarity of American diplomats with Georgian authorities caused a negative reaction from the Russian Embassy to the USA.

"It's regrettable that the USA are increasingly less likely to recall that there are international law standards, according to which accusations against sovereign states must be accompanied by proofs. Russia is ready for an expert dialogue on all the actual international agenda points; ensuring informational security among them," says the today's statement of the Embassy posted in its Facebook page.
