In Germany, Bavarian Supreme Court cancels fine to Tumso Abdurakhmanov's brother

The Bavarian Supreme Court sent for a new consideration a case against Mohmad Abdurakhmanov, who was fined 1350 euros for his posts on social networks. This was reported on February 19 by his brother, Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mohmad Abdurakhmanov is the spokesperson in Germany for the charitable and human rights association "Vayfond", which leaders criticize the authorities of Chechnya.

The Bavarian Supreme Court cancelled the guilty verdict to Mohmad Abdurakhmanov in the case on reposting a Deutsche Welle's article, Tumso Abdurakhmanov wrote late in the evening in his Telegram channel.

The blogger described the information as "good news from Germany."

According to Deutsche Welle, on February 19, Mohmad Abdurakhmanov received a decision of the Bavarian Supreme Court which on February 17 cancelled the fine imposed on Mohmad Abdurakhmanov and sent the case for a new consideration with a different composition of the first instance court.

On August 19, 2019, Mohmad Abdurakhmanov was sentenced to a fine of 1350 euros for his two posts on Facebook, one of which was a repost of a Deutsche Welle's article describing the ways in which members of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, got weapons. The Augsburg court treated the repost as the dissemination of the terrorist organization's symbols, Deutsche Welle reports.

The second post of Mohmad Abdurakhmanov contained two videos in which Israeli soldiers used dogs to hunt a child. The first instance court concluded that Mohmad Abdurakhmanov was guilty of disseminating a humiliating video, but the Bavarian Supreme Court found no basis for the verdict of guilty, Deutsche Welle reports.
