Editors of the leading mass media of Azerbaijan continue their hunger strike

A group of editors of Azerbaijani mass media continue their hunger strike action. The protesters' requirements have not changed, they still demand from the authorities to address the problem of "Azadlyg" newspaper and other mass media. What is meant here is the suit lodged by the State Committee for Managing State Property demanding that the "Azadlyg" should move out of its current premise.

Shakir Gabiloglu, one of the participants of the action, told to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" that the hunger strike should be regarded as one of the forms of fighting pressure on mass media and on freedom of expression in Azerbaijan.

The editors of Azerbaijani media are also seeking support from international organizations and democratic countries. "We wait for the governments of democratic countries to demand from the authorities of Azerbaijan to respect their undertaken obligations in the area of freedom of expression and human rights," the application runs.
