Residents of Chechnya criticize court marshals for ban on registration of debtors' cars
Court marshals have reported about more than 100,000 cars in Chechnya, the registration of which was banned because of unpaid debts of owners thereof. The ban bring sufferings not only to debtors, but also the drivers, who have bought such cars not knowing about the debts, local residents have pointed out.
The restriction is valid until car owners pay off their debts, an employee of the Department of the Russian Federal Service of Court Marshals for Chechnya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, at the beginning of 2019, more than 60,000 cars were under a similar ban on registration.
In such cases, citizens who have bought such cars "from hand to hand" often suffer: new owners cannot re-register the bought cars, and have even to repay former owners' debts in order to get rid of problems as soon as possible, the source has added.
