South-Ossetian entrepreneurs threaten to strike because of problems on Russian border

The checkpoint staff is detaining heavy trucks with goods on the Russian-South-Ossetian border, demanding to fill in a detailed electronic declaration; and meanwhile foodstuffs get spoiled, entrepreneurs have complained. Under a threat of stop shipments, they demand to solve the problem.

On February 13, in Tskhinvali, entrepreneurs met Alan Tadtaev, the Speaker of the Parliament, and asked him for help in solving the problems of transporting goods through the "Nizhny Zaramag" checkpoint, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

They said that their heavy trucks are not passed across the border, as customs officers demand documenting goods in accordance with the rules of the Customs Union.

Entrepreneurs said that earlier they filled out their declaration at the customs on paper; and now they must declare all the names of the goods electronically. They explained that they could not properly fill out their declaration.

At customs, "they don't bother that our goods may get spoiled by the frost," Alan Tskhovrebov, an entrepreneur, has noted.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that South-Ossetian entrepreneurs complained about delays of their goods on Russian border in January 2016.
