Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling attacks on two villages

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops in villages on the border with Armenia and in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled 24 times within 24 hours, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 5, the Azerbaijani MoD registered 20 shelling attacks on its positions within 24 hours, while the day earlier ‑ 24 shelling attacks.

"The positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the villages of Kemerli in the Gazakh District and Garalar in the Tovuz District were shelled from the positions located at nameless heights in the territory of the Noyemberyan and Berd Districts of Armenia," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its website today.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the fire also came from the territories near the "occupied villages".

Till present, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
