The health condition of Ogtai Gyulyalyev has essentially improved

Turkish doctors have positively assessed the dynamics of the state of health of the Azerbaijani rights defender, Ogtai Gyulyalyev, despite the fact that he is still in coma, said Mekhman Aliev, Director of the "Turan" News Agency.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, 2019, Ogtai Gyulyalyev, the head of the Public Alliance "Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners", after a press conference, where he spoke about a plan of campaigning against torture, was hit down by a car at a pedestrian crossing. The rights defender fell into coma; and in this state he was transported to an Istanbul clinic.

On January 29, Mekhman Aliev visited Gyulyalyev in the clinic. "The positive dynamics in his state of health is evident. After the surgery made on January 10, Ogtai's health is improving every day," Mr Aliev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent upon his return to Baku.

He has added that he had talked to Dr Mekhdi Sasani, the Gyulyalyev's attending physician. "The doctor was satisfied with the course of treatment, and expressed hope that the recovery dynamics would accelerate," Mr Aliev has concluded.

Firuza Gyulyalyeva, Ogtai's wife, has also noted that "in recent days, Ogtai's condition has become noticeably better." "He has not had a temperature rise for a long time. He already feels what is happening around him; and his consciousness is returning to him," she has explained.
