ICRF reports illegal use of prisoners' labour in North Ossetia

A deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) for North Ossetia recruited prisoners to work for private companies, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports today.

Investigators suggest that in the period from August to December 2019, prisoners from the penal colony-settlement No. 3 worked for third-party commercial organizations, including those receiving money from the budget. The corresponding instructions were given by one of the deputy heads of the FSIN Department for North Ossetia. He is suspected of abuse of power, the ICRF reports today on its official website.

As at 2:17 p.m. Moscow time on January 30, the FSIN Department for North Ossetia has not posted on its website any comments regarding the institution of the criminal case against its deputy head.
