Kadyrov copies Putin's idea of State Council for Chechnya
Ramzan Kadyrov sets up an Advisory Council aiming to strengthen his power in Chechnya, local residents assert. Kadyrov’s idea came up with the decision of Vladimir Putin to strengthen the status of the Russia’s State Council, political analysts have noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov returned to his work after a sick leave. On January 20, he announced the creation of an Advisory Council under the head of Chechnya for drafting proposals for the socioeconomic development of Chechnya.
Mikhail Roschin, an Orientalist, believes that Kadyrov is creating a special body from his "old guard" officials aiming to demonstrate his commitment to Chechen traditions and respect for elders. This will contribute to his political weight in the society, Mr Roschin is sure, adding that it doesn’t really matter whether the new council could help him manage Chechnya, since he needs no help in it.
The idea of the council comes down from the Kremlin; and it’s an exact copy of the State Council, which Putin has decided to form, said Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the "Assembly of Caucasian Nations".
The creation of the council is an expansion of the political base “just in case,” said Alexei Malashenko, a political analyst. The Chechen Advisory Council will have no real power and will not address any pressing issues, he has noted.
