Woman from Grozny reports return of her son who was missing for several days

Shamkhan Khamurzaev, who disappeared in Grozny, returned home, his mother reported. The woman retracted an earlier statement that her son was found in a law enforcement unit. Human rights defender Oleg Orlov doubts the new version voiced by the woman from Grozny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Shamkhan Khamurzaev, whose whereabouts was unknown to his relatives since December 26, was found on the territory of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov after an audio appeal of his mother.

"He was somewhere with his friends for all this time," reported Toita, a mother of Shamkhan Khamurzaev.

Oleg Orlov, the chairman of the board of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", doubts the authenticity of the information about the return home of Grozny resident Shamkhan Khamurzaev. According to Oleg Orlov, it is also not known for certain whether Shamkhan Khamurzaev is safe.

The HRC "Memorial" has repeatedly posted materials on prisons located on the territory of the PPS regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov. Human rights defenders called the territory of the PPS regiment a "secret prison."

If Shamkhan Khamurzaev was detained, then, according to Oleg Orlov, the reason for his detention would most likely remain unknown. Meanwhile, the human rights defender notes "it can be suggested that the police have got actual operational information against him."

The human rights defender did not rule out the possibility that Shamkhan Khamurzaev might be "unwanted for some official" or that law enforcers used pressure in an attempt to lay hands on his property.

Advocate Evgeny Chernousov suggested that the Shamkhan Khamurzaev's return home could be a result of his compromise agreement with law enforcers.
