In Chechnya, human rights activists were not let to the family village of the Kadyrovs

Mauro Palma, head of the delegation of the European Committee Against Tortures, which is now in Chechnya, says that they were not let to Tsentoroj. President of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov called it a "misunderstanding."

"Yesterday, the delegation of the Committee, accompanied by Russian authorities, made its way to the village of Tsentoroj, however, at the entrance to the village we were stopped by security forces and had to turn back," Mauro Palma told journalists on Tuesday noting that finds this incident unacceptable.

President of Chechnya met the members of the delegation today and said that "a misunderstanding took place." "There are no places in the Chechen Republic where the European Commission could not get," he said.

"We've discussed the problem with the representatives of the European Committee, and I'm now sure that they may go on with their work, visit Tsentoroj and any places they want," Alkhanov told journalists after the meeting.

Tsentoroj is the family village of the Kadyrovs. "You should understand that the family of the perished president Akhmad Kadyrov lives in this village; Akhmad Kadyrov was killed in a terrorist act, and under decision of the president and parliament of the Chechen Republic, this village is specially guarded," Alkhanov said. According to him, these measures had been undertaken because "even today, there are people who cherish intentions to act against the members of the Kadyrov family," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to HRC "Memorial," Tsentoroj houses a personal prison of Ramzan Kadyrov, vice-premier of Chechnya.
