In Chechnya, relatives of Aidamirova sisters claim no trust in investigating bodies
A sister of the Aidamirova sisters who disappeared in Chechnya does not believe that the investigating bodies are interested in solving the crime involving law enforcers. Relatives of the Aidamirova sisters expect to get compensation at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) for an ineffective investigation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 14, the investigating bodies resumed the case on the killing of Zargan and Satsita Aidamirova sisters. Earlier, the case had been repeatedly suspended.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, 23-year-old Zargan and 25-year-old Satsita Aidamirova worked at a car wash station. After the sisters disappeared on May 9, 2013, traces of blood and shell cases were found at the car wash station.
Elita Aidamirova, a sister of the disappeared women, does not hope for the effectiveness of the investigation in Chechnya. According to her, she does not trust the local law enforcement bodies after the torture to which her brother had been subjected.
Dmitry Piskunov, the head of the North-Caucasian branch of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT), hopes that the NGO will succeed in seeking compensation for a mother of the disappeared sisters for an ineffective investigation. The human rights defender pointed out that crimes were sometimes solved after many years.
