Rights defenders achieve resumption of Aidamirov sisters' murder case in Chechnya

Investigators have resumed the case of the Aidamirov sisters who had disappeared in Chechnya. Investigators should clear out law enforcers' involvement in the murder, but there is no hope of punishing the perpetrators; a complaint is being prepared to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), Dmitry Piskunov, the head of the North-Caucasian branch of the Committee against Torture (CaT), has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Aidamirov sisters disappeared under unclear circumstances in the village of Geldagan, Kurchaloi District of Chechnya, on May 9, 2013. According to prosecutors, the 23-year-old Zargan and the 25-year-old Satsita Aidamirov worked at a private car wash. There, in the back room, they lived. After their disappearance, traces of blood were found in the car wash. The owner of the wash was detained.

Zamani Magieva, the sisters' mother was the victim status in the murder case. According to her story, after that law enforcers began exerting pressure on the family. In particular, they, according to Magieva, beat up her brother. "They demanded from him to self-slander himself and confess to himself having done something with the sisters," said the woman.

One of the missing sisters, Satsita, has two children left; and Zargan – one child.
