Residents of Chechnya distrust Amaev's video appeal

A statement by Mairbek Amaev, a resident of Grozny, who has denied any links of his disappearance with law enforcers, has sparked disputes on the Instagram. The Amaev's story that he had spent a week without telling his family about resting with friends in Pyatigorsk, does not look like the truth, local residents believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that relatives of Mairbek Amaev had stated that he disappeared at night on December 14. Instagram users have suggested that Amaev had been detained by law enforcers.

On May 20, Mairbek Amaev's video message appeared on the Internet, where he stated that he had been at revelry with his friends in Pyatigorsk without any prior warning his relatives.

Commentators to Amaev's video message have doubted the veracity of his words. "Something is not clean there," the user ibragimow095 has pointed out.

A number of social network users pointed to Amaev's intimidated and tormented appearance. "He looks poor; they've intimidated the guy, apparently, they kept him somewhere," wrote the user marina30h. "Everyone who believes in his words, look into his eyes; he looks intimidated; his face looks exhausted! It's not the Pyatigorsk's fault. They took him away and tortured [the case was made] public, and threw him back!" the user mamed_322 believes.
