"Novaya Gazeta" compares stories of Nukhanov and Tumso
Like Tumso Abdurakhmanov, blogger Islam Nukhanov was prosecuted in Chechnya after he had made an attempt to raise a socially significant problem, noted Elena Milashina, a journalist of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta".
The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on December 9, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported the detention in Chechnya of 27-year-old Islam Nukhanov, who tried to make public the information about the luxurious living conditions of Chechen officials.
Elena Milashina compared the stories of prosecution of Islam Nukhanov and Tumso Abdurakhmanov. "The story of Islam Nukhanov is very similar to the story of Tumso Abdurakhmanov. He was also illegally detained in 2015," the journalist wrote.
Even before his migration to Poland, Tumso Abdurakhmanov used a YouTube channel to make public socially important problems in Chechnya. In the autumn of 2015, he was detained after his conflict with Islam Kadyrov. Meanwhile, a charge brought against Tumso Abdurakhmanov was not related to his posts and videos: he was charged with having connections with Syrian militants, reports the "Caucasian Knot" in the information post on the Tumso Abdurakhmanov's biography.
Let us remind you that the law enforcement bodies accused Islam Nukhanov of having connections with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, but the latter denied any connections. The criminal prosecution of Islam Nukhanov is a "flogging" for all residents of Chechnya trying to make public abuses of the authorities, Tumso Abdurakhmanov believes.
