YouTube users demand to release author of video shot near Ramzan Kadyrov's residence

Islam Nukhanov, who was detained after posting a video about rich houses of Ramzan Kadyrov's subordinates, was arrested for three months. YouTube users have demanded to release him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 9, the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" reported about the detention in Chechnya of 27-year-old Islam Nukhanov, who tried to make public the information about the luxurious life of Chechen officials. Islam Nukhanov was beaten and accused of storing rounds. Elena Melnik, a wife of Islam Nukhanov, flew to Chechnya despite threats to seek his release.

The "Novaya Gazeta" notes that Islam Nukhanov, a visually and hearing impaired person, got "virtually blind" after being beaten. His wife received over 100 messages with threats on the social network. Authors of the threatening comments accuse Elena Melnik of contributing to degeneration of the "Russian nation," since she married a Chechen native and gave birth to his child.

The prosecution of Islam Nukhanov is not related to the fact that the Chechen authorities feel they have lost in discussions with blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, believes Svetlana Gannushkina, the chair the "Civic Assistance Committee". The human rights defender also reminded that Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, declared a blood feud against the blogger.
