Chechen resident apologizes in pubic for his complaint about lack of surgical filaments

A video message posted on Instagram by a resident of Chechnya who reported that he had to buy additional medical materials for his brother who was to undergo surgery turned into a new episode of the public apology campaign.

A resident of Chechnya recorded a video message in which he complained about the absence of surgery supplies at the Gudermes Central District Hospital. "My brother was taken to a hospital (in Gudermes). They said that he urgently needed a surgery. They said that surgical filaments and other materials were to be brought for surgery ... I went around six pharmacies ... and I hardly found all the necessary materials," said the author of the video message as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The posted video did not show the author's face.

Despite the expected anonymity of the author, on December 4, on the very other day, the Chechen state-run TV Company showed a story with the public apologies voiced by the author of the video as a part of the evening news.

"I misunderstood the situation. I did not witness the conversation (about suture material). There were all necessary materials of high-quality (at the hospital). I apologize to the doctors who work here. I said something that did not take place," said Adam Mutaev, the author of the video message about surgical filaments, as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Meanwhile, the video posted on the social network found the support of users. According to them, residents of the region regularly face the need to purchase medicines and medical supplies.

"I'm not surprised. My mother was also told the similar way: there were no bandages, no bandaging materials, and they didn't even have iodine to treat a sore. They said: 'Please go and buy the materials, and then we will bandage you'," user llizz200 described his own experience.
