Abkhazian law enforcers free kidnapped local resident

Several residents of Abkhazia were detained on suspicion of kidnapping. MP Aslan Bzhaniya holds President Raul Khadjimba responsible for the growth of crimes, including more frequent cases of kidnapping.

Armen Grigoryan, a 43-year-old resident of Abkhazia, was kidnapped on November 24, and on December 1, law enforcers found him in a village in the Gudauta District. The freed hostage stays in satisfactory state, the police report.

Several persons were detained on suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping, the "Sputnik-Abkhazia" reports today with reference to the press service of the Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Kidnappings and other crimes that have become more frequent in Abkhazia are "a consequence of the inefficient actions of the authorities and the collapse of state institutions," stated Abkhazian MP Aslan Bzhaniya in his today's public statement released by the "Abkhazia-Inform".

Aslan Bzhaniya drew attention to the fact that it took almost five years from the bill on combating organized crime to pass from the presidential administration to the parliament. The Abkhazian MP claims that during the years of the President Raul Khajimba's power, the law enforcement bodies were ruined.

The MP also claimed that under the ruling of Raul Khadjimba, "some heads of departments gave away hundreds of firearms on behalf of the state to people who had serious problems with the law."
