Chechen law enforcers detain nurse for practising witchcraft

The "Grozny" TV Channel has released a report on the detention of a Chechen woman for engaging in occult practices. According to the authors of the report, former and incumbent state servants were among those who used the services of the woman, who works as a nurse.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this July, Chechen authorities intensified persecutions of the people who render occult services.

On November 20, the ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) "Grozny" posted a video clip in its YouTube channel about another local woman, detained for divination and occult practices.

In the video, a dark-dressed woman, who turned out to be a resident of Gudermes, shows bags where, according to the author of the video, there are "various talismans from the evil eye and failures." The woman is scolded by Adam Elzhurkaev, the chief physician of the Centre for Islamic Medicine in Grozny.

Doctor Elzhurkaev claims that the woman works at a hospital "as a cover." The woman confirms that she works as a junior nurse at the New Republic's Hospital.

According to Elzhurkaev, the "list of the woman's victims" contains incumbent and former state officials.

"Despite the fact that the Chechen Republic has set up all the conditions for the Islamic medicine and treatment according to the Sunnah, there are blatant cases when people, who consider they to be true believers, get under the influence of the ministers of the occult sciences," the author of the video has stated.
