Umar al-Shishani's deputy detained in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU) has announced the detention of Al Bara Shishani, a native of Georgia and one of the key leaders of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier, the ISIL), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2018, residents of the Pankisi Gorge of Georgia reported the death in Syria of Tamaz Batirashvili, the elder brother of one of the IS leaders, known as Abu Umar al-Shishani. Tarkhan Batirashvili, Umar al-Shishani's younger brother, has also died; the Pentagon confirmed this information in 2016.

The prefix "al-Shishani" in the names of natives from Pankisi fighting in Syria indicates their origin (Chechen-Kistins), translated from Arabic, it means "a Chechen".

According to the SBU, since 2013, a citizen of Georgia, nicknamed as Al Bara Shishani, has been deputy of Abu Umar al-Shishani, the Military Amir of the IS. In the summer of 2018, he moved to Ukraine under a forged passport and continued coordinating the IS' activities from there.
