Dagestani singer Ruslan Adjiev faces problems because of police prevention registration

The police assured Ruslan Adjiev, a singer performing Kumyk songs, that he was not put on a police prevention registration list as an extremist. However, during a trip to Kuban, the singer was stopped and requested to explain the purpose of leaving Dagestan, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July, Ruslan Adjiev, a singer from the village of Mutsalaul in the Khasavyurt District, claimed that the police considered him as an extremist and put him on the police prevention registration list. The police officially deny the existence of the police prevention registration practice and refuse to explain the reasons for putting persons on the list for control, says an advocate of Ruslan Adjiev.

According to the HRC "Memorial", when Ruslan Adjiev left for Armavir, he was stopped at a checkpoint in the Krasnodar Territory and forced to indicate the purpose of his trip, as well as his personal data, including the names of his family members.

The human rights defenders note that before the trip, the singer warned about his plans his contact from the law enforcement bodies, who in May informed Ruslan Adjiev that he had been put on the police prevention registration list, the press service of the HRC "Memorial" reports.
