Georgia: Parents of minor actor accuse authors of gay film
The parents of the child who starred in the film "And then we danced" said they the film plot was hidden from them. Sandro Bregadze, the leader of the "Georgian March", has threatened to launch protests, after at the Ombudsperson's office they refused to talk to him about the violation of the child's rights.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Patriarchy and nationalists opposed the screening in Georgia of the above film about the love of two performers of Georgian folk dances, which they treated as propaganda of homosexuality. On November 8, on the day of the film's premiere, there was a protesters' confrontation with law enforcers at the cinema.
One of the film episodes shows a 10-year-old boy. His parents said that they had agreed to his participation in the film, but the authors concealed from them the plot.
"We were told that the film would be about Georgian traditions and dances. It turns out that they deceived me," the boy's father said on air of the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company. The boy has found out that the film was nominated for an Oscar, and asked his parents to show him the film, his father has added.
Mr Bregadze has announced a large-scale protest action with a demand of resignation of Nino Lomdjariya, the Georgian Ombudsperson.
