Georgian citizen detained on South-Ossetian border

Zakro Butkhuzi, a Georgian villager, has been detained by South-Ossetian agents, the authorities of South Ossetia informed on November 6.

Zakro Butkhuzi was in a house in the outskirt of the village, his family members assert. This land plot borders on the village of Zemo Artsevi, located in the territory of South Ossetia.

"My son was in the garden, from where he disappeared. This garden is in the outskirt of the village and borders on the occupied territory. So far, no one has contacted the family, but, according to the current information, he has been taken to the occupied territory, to Tskhinvali," the "InterPressNews" quoted the detainee's father in its November 6 message.

The details of the detention of the 28-year-old Georgian citizen Zakro Butkhuzi are still unknown, said Tariel Vatiashvili, a source from the Mayor of the Gori Municipality.

"We only have information that the man was detained near the occupation line. There were no eyewitnesses; respectively, I can't say anything about the details. All relevant agencies have been informed; and we hope that the detainee will be released soon," the "InterPressNews" quotes Mr Vatiashvili as saying.

The Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has confirmed the detention of Zakro Butkhuzi in the outskirt of the village of Kveshi by South-Ossetian agents.
