In Dagestan, defence claims law enforcers' pressure on son of former official
Law enforcers threaten a son of Sharip Magomedsharipov, a former official from the Kizlyar District, with criminal prosecution and demand from him to testify against his father, an advocate reports. The defender sees no logic in a case on abuse of power when leasing out a land plot.
According to his relative, MP Ismail Magomedsharipov, Sharip Magomedsharipov, a 59-year-old former head of the property and land relations department of the Kizlyar District, is accused of holding fictitious tenders for leasing a land plot. Law enforcers demanded from the detainee to testify against the head of the Kizlyar District and promised to release him in return, the MP reported.
On October 24, Sharip Magomedsharipov, who was kept at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) of Khasavyurt, was taken to a hospital with a traumatic brain injury.
The law enforcers pursue an aim to "intimidate and psychologically break Sharip Magomedsharipov to force him to defame people who fell out of favour and institute criminal proceedings against them," advocate Timur Aliev wrote his version on Facebook.
According to the advocate, the law enforcers "use all kinds of methods to put pressure on Sharip Magomedsharipov." "And they found his weak point: his children. He is informed that his children will be arrested," the defender wrote.
In particular, according to Timur Aliev, the law enforcers summoned a son of Sharip Magomedsharipov and, under the threat of criminal proceedings, tried to force him to testify against his father.
