Video of apologies to Azerbaijanis caught attention of Russian police

Law enforcers started to check for extremism the movement "Vo Blago Obschego Naroda" (For the Good of the Common People, also known as V.B.O.N.) after video records had been posted on the Internet in which people were beaten and forced to apologize for their negative statements addressed to Azerbaijanis.

A complaint to the police was provoked by a post on the VKontakte social network with the above video. According to members of the V.B.O.N., they advocate the traditional values, are engaged in charity activities, and call on Azerbaijani people to live in accordance with the traditions. The members of the movement also "correct" their compatriots who behave defiantly, the "readovka.ru" reports.

"The V.B.O.N. unites real Azerbaijanis who do care of our nation and of how our people behave," one of the movement's members said.

In the video, members of the movement are beating a young man who left an insulting comment under the post of blogger Ruslan Kurbanov about the death of an Azerbaijani pilot over the Caspian Sea, the information and analytical centre "Sova" reports.

On October 8, the "V.B.O.N." channel on Telegram reported that members of the movement forced a native of Armenia to apologize in front of a video camera in the presence of some Armenian elders.

Besides, according to the "Sova", it is also known about an attack of V.B.O.N. members on four gay men in Baku. Meanwhile, the leaders of the movement do not see any violation of the law in their actions.

The "Sova" also reports that members of the movement forced the "MegaFon" telecommunications company to abandon its "Nagorno-Karabakh" tariff and dismiss its employee who claimed the company recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent republic.
