Kadyrov's criticism is alarming signal for Daudov

The resignation from the post of the curator of the territorial sector has not reduced the influence of Magomed Daudov; however, the first public criticism from Ramzan Kadyrov is a bad sign for him, Ruslan Kutaev, an activist, and Ruslan Gereev, a publicist, believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at a meeting held on October 16, Ramzan Kadyrov for the first time publicly criticized Magomed Daudov. The reason for criticism was the activities of Magomed Daudov as a supervisor of the sector, which included the Kurchaloi and Shali Districts. Lom-Ali Baimuradov, the general director of the "Chechengazprom", replaced Magomed Daudov as the supervisor of the above sector.

Regardless of the reason and nature of Ramzan Kadyrov's decision, public criticism from him is a serious damage to images of Chechen officials, said Ruslan Kutaev, President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations.

"I've never heard Kadyrov criticizing Daudov, who is one of Kadyrov's 'hands', along with Adam Delimkhanov, who deals with issues outside of Chechnya; while all the issues inside the region are assigned to Daudov. Public dissatisfaction broadcast on the air is a bad signal for Daudov. Kadyrov is tough enough in posing questions; and when he receives no answers, some changes follow as a rule. I'm not saying that today Daudov will be replaced, or pushed back, but at the same time the signal [for him] is unfavourable," Mr Kutaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ruslan Gereev, Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies of Northern Caucasus, believes the loss of control over the sector to be insignificant for Magomed Daudov's status, taking into account the overall assessment of his influence. At the same time, the very fact of such reshuffling should be perceived as the "first signal" in the career of the politician, Mr Gereev believes.
