OSCE Minsk Group discusses humanitarian issues in Stepanakert

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have discussed issues of journalists' visits and improvement of prisoners' situation.

The co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group are Russia, the USA and France.

On October 16, Bako Saakyan, President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), received the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, his press service has informed.

"The issues of settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict and the situation on the Artsakh (NKR)-Azerbaijani border were discussed," says the statement.

On March 29, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in Vienna under the auspices of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. Azerbaijani political analysts were sceptical about the outcomes of the meeting, and their Armenian colleagues reacted thereto with cautious optimism.

David Babayan, the press secretary of the NKR's President, has noted that the "official Stepanakert had confirmed its commitment to a peaceful solution to the problem." He has also added that the continuation of the negotiations is a "progress in itself."

"We should understand that we are dealing with one of the most complicated conflicts; and it's too early to talk about a settlement as such," Mr Babayan has noted.
