Baku: forced migrants demand housing
On October 10, a group of forced migrants held a protest action in Baku demanding to provide them with comfortable housing. Officials have promised to give apartments to 3700 migrants by the end of the year.
In the course of October 10 action, people complained about the poor condition of the military hostel in the Qaradag District, where they were had been accommodated, the "Turan" News Agency reported on the same day.
Earlier, authorities promised to provide them with housing in "Gobu Park", a new neighbourhood for forced migrants. Although this residential complex has already been commissioned, no tenants of the military hostel received apartments there.
"Where we live now, there are no school and hospital; buses don't go there. 30 children can't go to school," the "Turan" quotes one of the protesters as saying.
An official came out to the protesters and promised that over 3700 forced migrants would receive housing in Azerbaijan by the end of this year.
