KChR student who died in Egypt prison buried there
Alikhan Kazymov, a 22-year-old native of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), who was detained by Egyptian special services three months ago during a raid to identify illegal immigrants, has died in an Egyptian prison. On October 3, he was buried in a suburb of Cairo.
The death of the Russian student was reported by Rasul Tavdiryakov, a correspondent of the "Alif.tv", on the Facebook.
"They detained everyone, not only Russians, but Americans too ... He was detained about three months ago; he had a chronic illness. Most likely, he did not receive the proper medical care; and an exacerbation began," said Ruslan, a student from Northern Caucasus.
He has noted that the Russian Embassy knew nothing about Kazymov's detention. According to Ruslan, Alikhan Kazymov had a good reputation.
Earlier, none of the Russian students detained in Egypt was found guilty of any offense, except for a violation of the migration registration, said Yusuf Shikhmagomedov, the chairman of the Diaspora of Russian students in Egypt.
A sister of Kazymov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the accusation put forward against his brother in Russia had to do with an extremism article. According to her version, her brother went to Egypt to study the Koran.
In the same period with Kazymov, several other natives of the KChR and Kabardino-Balkaria were detained, whose fate is still unknown.
