Iranian MFA promises to set free detained journalist

Russian journalist Yulia Yuzik has been detained not as a suspect, but to clarify a number of issues; she will soon be released, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has assured.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ms Yuzik was detained in Tehran on October 3. According to the journalist, Boris Voitsekhovskiy, she reported that she had been suspected of cooperating with Israeli intelligence services.

Abbas Musavi, an official spokesman of the Iranian MFA, has assured that Yulia Yuzik will soon be released.

Yulia is a native of the Rostov Region; she is engaged in public projects in Northern Caucasus, the "Nastoyaschee Vremya" (Present Time) reports.

Aage Borchgrevink, an adviser to the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, has criticized Yulia's book "Allah's Brides" for "distorted picture of the conflict in Chechnya." He believes that the analysis presented in the book was an "echo of the Kremlin's view" on the conflict.
