Putin answers question about withdrawal of troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia
Russia will withdraw its troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia when such a decision is made, said Russian President Vladimir Putin when answering a question voiced by a Georgian journalist.
During the Vladimir Putin's visit to Yerevan, where a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was held on October 1, a correspondent of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel asked the Russian President about the Russia's obligations undertaken in 2008, and she also asked when the Russian troops would leave Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The correspondent cried out her question when after photographing ceremony, Vladimir Putin was walking together with leaders of other EAEU countries, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
"We always keep our promises," Vladimir Putin replied.
Regarding the question about the withdrawal of the Russian troops, the Russian President replied that would happen "when we made such a decision," the RIA "Novosti" reports.
It should be noted that the Georgian authorities have repeatedly called on Moscow to "fulfil international obligations." So, on September 14, Vladimir Konstantinidi, the spokesman for the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), declared illegitimate the decision of the South-Ossetian authorities to close the border with Georgia and called on Russia to help solve the problems of the "population affected by the conflict."
