Makhachkala: hunger-striking Afghan War veterans need doctors' help
The veterans of the Afghan War, who are on a hunger strike in Makhachkala, have reported that on September 19, one of the protesters was hospitalized because of a serious deterioration in health; several others needed help of ambulance staff.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 2, the above Afghan veterans gathered in Makhachkala and threatened the authorities to go on a hunger strike. They claimed that they had been awaiting the state-promised apartments for many years, but failed to receive them. On September 17, about 20 Dagestani veterans of the Afghan War went on an endless hunger strike in Makhachkala, demanding from the authorities to provide them with the promised housing.
On the third day of the hunger strike, several protesters needed medical care; one of them, Magomed Magomedov, was hospitalized, the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly has reported.
"It turned out that he had stomach problems. Because of the hunger strike, severe pains and bleeding opened," the weekly quotes one of the hunger-strikers as saying.
Other veterans intend to continue their hunger strike, the website "Nasha Versiya" (Our Version) reports.
