Volgograd activists demand to stop persecuting Navalny's supporters

The picketers have demanded to stop the wave of searches in homes of supporters of Alexei Navalny in Volgograd.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that searches of homes of employees of the Anti-Corruption Fund and of Navalny's offices began on September 12 in 39 Russian cities, including Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Stavropol and Volgograd. The searches have been launched as a part of the case on "money laundering" at the Anti-Corruption Foundation, informed Leonid Volkov, a Navalny's associate.

In the Heroes' Avenue in Volgograd, activists held three solo pickets, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. They came out with posters "Regime responds with stupid searches to 'Smart Voting'. They are smashing Navalny's offices. Stop political pressure!"

Elena Osina, an activist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she was a volunteer at the local Navalny's office, and she was very much concerned about the searches.

"I fully support Navalny and 'Smart Voting". But there is complete chaos – they are smashing the offices ... and seizing equipment and telephones," she said. "This lawlessness should be stopped by all means. I am a peaceful person, but sometimes I get scared by what is happening in our country," she has noted.
