"Sanitek" workers demand wages from Yerevan Mayoralty

The participants in protest rally held in Yerevan by the workers of the "Sanitek" Company assert that the city authorities failed to transfer funds to pay wages to them. In their turn, Yerevan authorities claim they paid the "Sanitek" for the amount of the work that the garbage collection operator had performed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Yerevan complained about the poor organization of garbage collection since 2018. Protests were held in Yerevan on July 13 and August 8, 2019, and three participants in the last rally were detained.

On September 10, several dozens of "Sanitek" workers held a protest rally at the Yerevan Mayoralty, demanding their wages for August, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The Mayoralty employees came out to meet the protesters.

Akop Karapetyan, the spokesman for the Yerevan Mayoralty, told the rally that in August the Mayoralty transferred about 60% of the amount to the company.

"The payment was made for the amount of work that the company had performed. You should ask your bosses what they have spent the money for. If you are not paid, you have legal grounds to go to court," the spokesman has emphasized.
