Armenian citizen convicted in Russia for recruiting teen into IS*

A court in the Vladimir Region of Russia has found Ashot Grigoryan, an Armenian citizen, guilty of recruiting a teenager into a terrorist organization and sentenced him to 14 years in prison, the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) reported on September 9.

Ashot Grigoryan, a citizen of Armenia, has been found by the Moscow District Military Court guilty of involving a minor in the activities of the "Islamic State"*. The young man recruited by him went to Syria to participate in the warfare there, the TASS reported on September 9, citing the press service of the FSB's Branch for the Vladimir Region.

Earlier, Ashot Grigoryan was sentenced to ten years in a high-security colony for plunder and robbery. He drew law enforcers' attention, when he was sent to serve his sentence in the Vladimir Region. The convict managed to recruit the teenager, while he was still at large, the above press service has explained.

The investigators have not yet determined the fate of the recruited teen.
