Paris Chechens demand to speed up inquiry into Zelimkhan Khangoshvili's murder

On Saturday, September 7, in Paris, a rally was held at the German Embassy demanding from German authorities to objectively investigate the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a Pankisi native.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a veteran of the Second Chechen War, was shot dead in Berlin on August 23, 2019. A 49-year-old Russian citizen was arrested on suspicion of committing the murder. Members of the Chechen Diaspora linked the murder with the activities of Russian special services; the Russian authorities deny this.

Special services of several NATO countries do not exclude the involvement of Russian agents in this crime, German media have reported.

The action in Paris was organized by the "Bart Marcho" Association, which unites Chechen Diasporas of European countries, gathered more than a hundred people, the "Kavkaz.Realii" reports. Some of the protesters covered their faces because they wouldn't like to be identified, as they hide their whereabouts from Russian authorities.

The rally participants have also spoke against attempts on refugees in Europe.

Let us remind you that on September 4, participants in a Berlin rally said that German authorities bear a part of responsibility for Khangoshvili's death, since they failed to provide him with asylum and put him on the list of extremists. The protesters demanded not to extradite natives of Chechnya to Russia, with the exception of Ramzan Kadyrov's supporters.
