Film by Kabardino-Balkarian director included in programmes of two film festivals
The film "Dylda" directed by Kantemir Balagov, a director from Kabardino-Balkaria, is included in the programme of the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was also presented at the Telluride Film Festival in the US and was listed on the European Film Academy Award.
On May 17, the film "Dylda" was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the contest programme "Special Look". The film was nominated for the "Queer Palm", an award for films on the LGBT-topic, and the film got a prize for best directing. The nomination may negatively affect the prospects for the rental of the film "Dylda" in Russia, but the film's artistic value will be of decisive importance, note film industry figures interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
Film producer Alexander Rodnyansky has noted on Instagram that the Telluride Film Festival is the most influential, and the success on it opens the way for films to win the Oscar Award.
In July, at the Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan, Kantemir Balagov won the second prize, Silver Apricot, for his film "Dylda".
