In Chechnya, resonance murder highlights problem of domestic violence

A brutal murder of two women from a Chechen village, in which a 17-year-old female relative of the murdered persons is suspected, is a result of insufficient education in the family, users of social networks suggest. The incident is not typical for the Chechen society, some users note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a 17-year-old girl from the Shelkovsky District was suspected of killing on August 23 with a knife her 27-year-old sister because of hostility and a 53-year-old mother, who was trying to protect her eldest daughter.

The family in which the tragedy occurred was considered prosperous, local residents reported.

"That's a terrible tragedy! And here the adults are to be blamed, who brought the girl's condition to such an extremely brutal state," Schodjan Aminat expressed her opinion in the public account "Other Nalchik" on Facebook.

Visitors to the public account "This is our Northern Caucasus" noted that the incident was not typical for the Chechen society.

"I do not believe that a Chechen woman killed her mother with a knife," wrote Musa Albogachiev. "More or less, all of us have no guarantees to avoid mental disorders. This is our common tragedy, which is also caused, I believe, by the facts of the terrible injustice that affects the whole society," Aslan Saidoulaev replied.
